(Worcester, MA) — This years Assumption College baseball line-up seems ready to power through the season with some wins. The team is 15-11, and off to a fairly good start in their season. They started their year playing in Florida over Spring Break and came back this week with “energy to win” senior Trevor McQuade stated.
McQuade spoke to us after the Greyhounds recent game against American International College. He led the team to a 14-12 win and said, “There is plenty more where that came from.” He singled in his first at bat, driving in two runs, which gave the Hounds to a 2-1 lead over the Yellow Jackets. McQuade’s subsequent at-bats were useful to the team, especially after the Hounds gave up a 3-run inside-the-park home run in the top of the 6th inning. “Morale was low on the bench and I knew when I got up to the plate that inning I needed to do something big” McQuade stated. He responded by hitting a two run bomb, soaring over the fence in right-center field.
“The team played well and even though it was a long and at points a boring game, we definitely got the turn out we were looking for. 14-12 is a high scoring baseball game, but we did what we needed and we are ready for what is to come,” McQuade says. The team has been working hard in practice and the fans brave enough to brave the cold weather on this cold afternoon showed some serious support.
